Chue & Lee – A San Jose Wedding – The Hayes Mansion

I really like San Jose.  I’m not exactly sure why.  My Grandfather went to San Jose State and always loved to rub it in Fresno State’s face when his Spartans stuck it to us in football.  I think it caused me to have a respect for the south bay city.  I also like San Jose because it has a lot of history in it and it doesn’t take that long to get there from Fresno.

Well last night I was asked by the up and coming photographer Jamie Suh to assist him in photographing his friends Chue and Lee.  Jamie flew in from L.A. and was amazed that I drove from Fresno.  Jamie and I hit it off and had fun scouting the historic Hayes Mansion.  The mansion which was built at the turn of the 19th century has hosted Presidents and dignitaries from around the world.  I asked if it was haunted and the staff stressed that it wasn’t but that it was built by the same company that built the Winchester Mystery House.

The staff were really laid back and even allowed me special access to the suite above the reception hall to take photos during the ceremony.  If you ever get the chance to stay at the hotel you will not be disappointed as it’s relatively inexpensive and is in a great location.

The wedding was relaxed and the food was incredible.  I wish Chue and Lee all the best, you both are great and have the friendliest families.

Back to School Night – Let the Sweaty Palms Begin

It begins.  My son William has started Kindergarten and tonight was back to school night for the parents.  I didn’t think too much of it until I got to the classroom and saw all of these parents.  I felt like I was back in school, trying not to do anything stupid like trip on the rug or pass out.  It was really hot in the classroom!

It’s another stone in the wall of life, that’s a lame analogy.  Well, one bonus was that I wasn’t alone, mi esposa (my wife) was there with me and we both got to hear all the rules of Kindergarten.  I also signed up to coach William’s soccer team.  I’m actually looking forward to putting crazy parents in their place.

Now homework is a different story.  I think I’ll call in sick.

Fresno County Office of Education’s – All Staff Day

Every once in a while you come across a story or meet someone who changes your outlook on life. Well, last Friday I was asked by Fresno County Office of Education to photograph their All Staff Day. It’s an opportunity for Fresno County staff to be recognized for their dedication, and an opportunity for everyone to energize themselves for the coming school year.

As a part of their program, they asked Darryl Scott to speak. Mr. Scott is the father of Rachel Scott who was murdered in the Columbine High School shooting back in 1999. He told his daughter’s story and it was amazing! Rachel was an amazing person with a heart for God and an uplifting spirit towards others.

I was literally in tears which made it hard to photograph, but they were tears of happiness because of what people like Mr. Scott have done to spread Rachel’s message of love and acceptance. Check out the Rachel Scott Foundation for more information.

Judith & Donato – Fresno Engagement

Well with a new blog look comes new photos and Judith & Donato’s engagement session are the first. My wife and I had fun taking photos of them and they looked beautiful. They received a lot of attention and were asked if they were famous models. I had to put a photo up that included the peacock. You’ll have to ask Donato about the peacock. I’ve included a few from yesterday’s shoot.
